Over Easy Bar
Serendipity led us to while away an hour at The Over Easy Bar (AKA The Over Easy Bar and Breakfast) on the corner of the 6 points in St Johns. Jason welcomed us in for a greasy breakfast and a stiff, see-through breakfast cocktail to start the day off right. The tap list is well curated with 2 CBD beers, 2 ciders, 1 fizzy wine, 1 crap tap (Busch) and the rest craft beers. $4 pints during happy hour and an assortment of cheap bottles.
Every table in the joint seemed to be ordering the chicken fried steak, so we jumped on that bandwagon. The food was served fast, hot and hit the spot. Nothing fancy, just solid workingman food. The rest of the menu is pretty predictable with some solid values including the basic breakfast for $6.50. You’ll also find, burgers, wings, sandwiches and salads, plus daily food specials. It was a giant chili dog on our visit and I had to physically restrain my companion from ordering that for breakfast. Heaven help us!
There’s a pool table, pinball and (of course) a video poker nook. A few picnic tables on the partially covered patio out back, booths, tables and bar seating inside. Opens early, has easy parking, and is a comfortable neighborhood joint for when you to find yourself in that part of town.
